Equipment

  • 1 High Power Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Raw Peanuts with or without skin

For Sweet and Salty Variation

  • 1/4th tsp Rock Salt or Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp Raw Honey
  • 1 tbsp Cold Press Coconut or Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Spread raw peanuts on a baking tray and dry roast in a preheated oven at 180 C for ten minutes or till peanuts release slight oil. After 4 to 5 minutes, give a shake then roast again for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Alternatively, you can also dry roast the peanuts on stove top as well till they are fragrant. Just make sure not to burn them. Keep stirring.
  • Put the peanuts in a blender and blitz till peanuts crumble. Now if you like Chunky Peanut Butter, take out few tbsps of crumbled peanuts and mix towards the end when the  peanut butter is ready.
  • Blitz for another minute. Butter will start coming together.  Open and scrape from the sides now. Keep repeating this process till you see butter forming. Keep blitzing at this point for creamy peanut butter. This process takes 5-7 minutes.

For Variation

  • When you see that butter has started forming, at this stage add rock salt or sea salt, coconut oil or olive oil and raw honey for sweet and salty variation of peanut butter.

For Chunky Peanut Butter

  • Once the butter becomes smooth, add 2 tbsps of chunky peanuts which we kept aside at this stage for Chunky Peanut Butter and mix well.

Notes

  • Save yourself time and use roasted unsalted peanut butter. Just heat them in the oven or on stove top for 2 minutes. Warm peanuts will help to release the butter more quickly than cold peanuts.

  • Use a high power blender to make any kind of nut butter. It will save you a lot of time. However, if you don't have a high power blender, you can still make peanut butter but it might take few extra minutes.

  • 2 cups of peanut butter will give you roughly 10 ounces or 300 grams of peanut butter.
